What is HIP cleaning?
HIP (Home Improvement Programme) cleaning is a specialised deep clean performed after HDB improvement works — such as upgrading of pipes, lifts, facades, or internal flat improvements. These works leave dust, debris, and residue that require thorough removal before the unit is liveable.
How is HIP cleaning different from a normal deep clean?
HIP cleaning specifically targets construction dust from government improvement works, which is fine and pervasive. It requires more vacuuming cycles, wipe-downs of new fittings, and attention to newly installed fixtures like pipes and fittings.
When should I book HIP cleaning?
Book as soon as the HIP works are fully completed. Don't wait — fine construction dust settles into fabrics and HVAC systems. Cleaning within 1–2 days of completion gives the best results.
Do I need to be home?
Not necessary. Many residents provide a key and come back to a clean unit. All our cleaners are HDB-registered, vetted, and insured.
Is HIP cleaning covered by HDB subsidies?
HDB does not currently subsidise the cleaning cost. However, the Lift Upgrading Programme and major HIP works often come with some cleaning allowances — check your HDB letter for details.
How long does it take?
A standard 3-room or 4-room HDB typically takes 4–6 hours with a team of 2. Larger flats or heavily dusty units may take longer.
