Formaldehyde FAQ

What is formaldehyde and why is it dangerous?

Formaldehyde is a chemical compound found in new furniture, flooring, cabinets, and construction adhesives. In high concentrations it can cause respiratory issues, headaches, eye irritation, and is classified as a carcinogen. It's especially a concern in new Singapore homes after renovation.

How do I know if my home has formaldehyde?

Signs include a strong chemical smell, eye irritation when indoors, frequent headaches or nausea, or a recent renovation. New homes with MDF furniture, particleboard, or vinyl flooring are especially susceptible.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment typically takes 3–6 hours for a standard HDB or condo. After treatment, the unit needs to be ventilated for 4–8 hours before occupancy.

Is the treatment safe for my family and pets?

Yes — our treatment uses non-toxic photocatalytic materials that are safe for humans and pets once the ventilation period is complete.

How soon can we move in after treatment?

We recommend waiting at least 12–24 hours after treatment and ventilating the unit before moving in. We'll advise based on your specific conditions.

Will one treatment be enough?

In most cases, yes. For heavily affected units or those with extensive new furniture, a follow-up treatment may be recommended after 30–60 days.
